Show studio

I have just got back from London and have been to somerset house for the exhibition Show studio the fashion revolution. this exhibition really won me over the level of interaction was really impressive and the clothing with the leather tyre was really innovative. The life size model of Naomi Campbell in which you were encouraged to write and draw on her really emphasized the level of interaction and the freedom that new technology has meant to consumers. Furthermore, show studio has shown its creativity through many different types of media and through this lots of big names in fashion and art are pleased to be associated with the brand, names such as Anna Wintour, Kate Moss, Twiggy are just a few examples.

John Lewis

Mulberry at John Lewis is something that i would have never thought would have worked but after looking at the John lewis website it seems that they are going into a more upmarket market. Competing with the likes of Selfridges and Harrods it is certainly one store to watch. With the economy as it is it seems that most retailers are cutting their prices in order to get consumers to part with their money. However, John Lewis seems to be going in the opposite direction so as to recreate themselves as a higher class brand. With John Lewis focusing on brands such as Hudson Jeans, Elie Tahari, Ralph Lauren and Nicole Farhi along with Mulberry to try and create the image for the new more premium fashion brand they hope to create.

Parisian perfumer Francis Kurkdjian has thought outside the box within the fragrance sector. With his quirky, innovative means of dispelling fragrances. His fragrances exist in laundry detergent, fabric softener, incense paper and perfumed bubbles. Just how amazing would it be to have bubbles that smell of Chanel just perfect.
This got me thinking as to who would buy them and use them and they could be everywhere, at home, in the office toilets and even instore just floating about it would be a very different than just spraying some air spray around, and create a sort of magical luxury vibe.

Are heels getting to high

Well just after my last post it turns out i was not the only one questioning whether heels were to high and after Prada's spring/summer 2010 collection where nearly all the models struggled walking in their shoes that the front row was more concerned at looking at the models and whether they were going to break their ankle rather than the actual collection. It just shows that if the main outcome of a show is watching the models to see if they fall over rather than the collection then thats not really the impact or wanted outcome for the brand.

Alexander McQueen

So i was just looking on the Vogue website doing some research and i came across these shoes well thats what they would be best described as. As much as i love fashion and couture it does just astound me as to how unpractical it is sometimes. Also if i did buy these how long would it be till i fall flat on my face, not long at all i am guessing. Anyway beside the insane style i really like the print and the design based on reptilian skins and insects is something that has been associated with Christopher Kane and its interesting to see a different take on the theme.

Whistles and Elle Decoration

This image is from the whistles store in York, it has a sense of luxury and a bespoke feel. The whole of the store layout was designed by Elle decoration and I believe that its such an innovative idea and a wonderful collaboration as it really sets out the idea of Whistles as a museum and that expertise that Elle have in order to being able to transform a plain shop and turn it into something unique is something that their customers really seem to appreciate.
Overall, Whistles have really pulled off a fabulous shop interior.

Phillipa Laurence

I love this image i really think that it would work well in an advertising campaign for many brands. Phillipa Laurence is inspired by travel and journey points I feel that many designers are influenced by travel but they maybe have this subtly influencing their work, the colours and boldness of the tree really stand out and it would work well in any magazine adverts. Brands that I think could use this image are, Louis Vuitton, Pucci - to have clashing prints and colours and then maybe some more organic brands like people tree to add some colour into their communication.

19 magazine

I found this old copy of 19 magazine and its just so different to that of any magazine that you would see or pick up today, the colours are dull and the front cover has a plain finish in contrast to that of the magazines that are available today that have a glossiness about them that makes them look more special and luxurious.
The type and the way that the picture is formatted is also really simple and off its time now with the art of photoshop the images can be a lot more creative and stunning.

The most amazing shop in the whole world am so excited its nearly over here.

new york

The whole vintage store trend is one that really stands out to the consumer the way in which the store layout and shop window conveys a relaxed and serene shopping area means that the consumer is always likely to love the store and tell all their friends about how fabulous a certain place is to shop. Someone once mentioned to me that for every good experience you have you will tell three people but for every bad experience you have you will tell ten and therefore this highlights to me the importance of giving customers an amazing experience. The images above are taken from stores in New York. Across the pond the shop windows and visuals are impressive they use lights, art and product in an innovative way that is fresh and modern and has such impact that certain stores for example Louis Vuitton can be daunting.

My new world

This is my first blog!! I am really new to all this but I thought it was about time I started some productive work for my degree. For the past year I have been keeping a portfolio of my work and of interesting visuals that I am keen to share I just had to build it up so that I had enough to share with you. Overall, all of my work is to do with fashion marketing and branding and I appreciate any feedback.
